Welcome to Teesside & District Society for the Blind. We are a local charity located in Middlesbrough and have been in operation since 1960. Throughout those 60 years, we have worked to provide a community for the blind here in Middlesbrough and the surrounding area. It is our misson to help blind and partially-sighted people stay independent and to raise their quality of life.
We offer many services to our Clients, including home visits, transcription services, social outings and shopping escorts. Our social centre provides a place for the blind and partially sighted to socialise, eat and take part in many activities. Our volunteers visit people in their homes and also assist them with shopping and other tasks. We also arrange regular day trips and holidays.
We are very grateful for the work of our volunteers who give up their time to help us on a daily basis. We could not provide the services we run for our clients without them. If you also with to volunteer here at the Teesside & District Society for the Blind, please get in touch with us. Our volunteers fill a variety of roles, such as home visitors, minibus drivers, admin helpers and gardeners. If you think you are a good fit and have some free time to give, then we would love to hear from you!
